FAQ

  • Car subscription is a more flexible type of car rental. Everyone can freely choose types of cars they want to drive according to their liking; they only need to pay a monthly rental fee and a mileage charge. The fee and charge include insurance, repair, maintenance, and taxes. From being an owner to being a user, a car subscriber is charged on a quarterly basis. The flexibility in car rental and contract termination fits in with modern consumers’ purchasing philosophy: simple, convenient, and fast. With car subscription, they can enjoy life and travel with ease.

  • After you register for membership on the car subscription platform (https://sealand.tw/), activate your account via the link sent to your email address, upload relevant supporting documents (including both the front and reverse sides of your ID card and driver's license) to the Member Center on the website, and activate your subscription, you can start your subscription.
  • After your subscription plan is reviewed and approved, the system will send you a notification of approval of your subscription plan (including deposit payment link). Your purchase order will be accepted after you pay the deposit.
  • Each subscription plan lasts for three months or one year. If you return the car earlier, the monthly rental fee will not be refunded (the mileage charge will be calculated based on actual mileage).
  • If you need the invoice to be issued to a company, please fill out the company name and tax ID number in your membership data. A triplicate uniform invoice will be issued to the company for tax credit purposes.
  • An e-invoice will be sent to your registered email address seven days (excluding weekends and holidays) after you return the car and your payment to us has been confirmed.
  • The subscription fee can be paid online with a credit card / via bank transfer / via wire transfer.

* If the e-invoice needs to be issued in a specific way, please notify a customer service representative one week before it is issued.

There are four stages in the process of paying the subscription fee and in the refund process.

(ordering a car ➡ delivery of the car ➡ expiration of subscription ➡ refund)

  • Ordering a car: You have to pay the deposit by the due date after successful subscription. The deposit will be refunded to your bank account after you return the car and pay all relevant fees (the deposit for a domestically manufactured car is NT$10,000, and that for an imported car is NT$30,000 – NT$100,000, depending on your subscription plan).
  • Initial rental payment during the delivery of the car: The subscription fee and advance mileage charge covering a distance of 3,000 kilometers will be collected during the delivery of the car in accordance with your chosen subscription plan.
  • Final rental payment upon expiration of subscription: You should arrive at the location where you will return the car and pay the mileage charge (you will be refunded if you are overcharged or need to make up the difference) and other fees (ETC fee, parking fees, fines, repair costs, etc.) upon expiration of subscription.
  • Refund: The deposit and amount of last payment to be returned will be refunded to you seven days (excluding weekends and holidays) after you complete the procedure for returning the car.

* All payments can be made online with a credit card.

* The ETC fee should be calculated based on the fee schedule of Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Co., Ltd.

* The charge for delivery of the car to your doorstep is NT$4,000 (tax inclusive).

* A lessee is not liable for the cost of repairs if it is failure of the car itself.

【Sample calculation of the subscription fee】

If you choose used car plan A, the calculation of your subscription fee is as follows:

  • Ordering a car: You have to pay a deposit of NT$10,000 (will be refunded to your bank account after you return the car and pay all relevant fees) after successful subscription.
  • Initial rental payment during the delivery of the car: NT$ 6,800 *3 (three-month rental fee) + NT$ 2.8 * 3,000 (advance mileage charge covering a distance of 3,000 kilometers) = NT$ 28,800.
  • Final rental payment upon expiration of subscription: You will pay the mileage charge based on actual mileage (you will be refunded if you are overcharged or need to make up the difference) and other fees (ETC fee, parking fees, fines, repair costs, etc.).
  • Refund: The deposit and amount of last payment to be returned will be refunded to you seven days (excluding weekends and holidays) after you complete the procedure for returning the car.

  • Subscription plans come with the compulsory third party liability insurance/general third party liability insurance/passenger liability insurance/driver insurance/theft insurance/car damage insurance: category B (including an insurance write-off)/replacement car service when your car is being repaired/replacement car service when your car is damaged/replacement car service when your car is stolen/excess liability insurance.

* The insurance premiums to be paid for the aforementioned policies should be based on types of insurance policies purchased by car dealers. (Out-of-pocket repair cost: Limited to NT$10,000 if you rent a domestically manufactured car and NT$30,000 if you rent an imported car)

  • The following are not included: picking up or delivering a car, mileage charge, fuel cost, fines for violations, ETC fee, parking fees, theft insurance for parts and accessories, theft insurance for high-value parts and accessories, liability insurance covering drunk driving accidents (compensation for accidents with alcohol involving compulsory insurance not included), typhoon insurance, earthquake insurance, tsunami insurance, hail insurance, flood insurance, and rain puddle insurance.

  • The locations where you pick up and return the car are the same (i.e., our business office).
  • You need to bring your ID card, original driver's license, and credit card with you.
  • The time of picking up and returning your car should be based on the opening hours of the car dealer.
  • If you need to change the location where you will pick up your car at short notice after you subscribe to a car, please contact a helper and provide him/her with your name and relevant information. The helper will contact the car dealer and respond to your request as soon as possible.
  • If you need to change the time at which you will return your car at short notice after you subscribe to a car, please contact a helper and provide him/her with your name and relevant information seven days (excluding weekends and holidays) before you return the car. The helper will contact the car dealer and respond to your request as soon as possible.

The agreed delivery date can be extended by two days at most.

Cancellation charges will be calculated based on the agreed delivery date:

  • If you cancel your subscription on the agreed delivery date, 100% of you deposit will be forfeited.
  • If you cancel your subscription one day prior to the agreed delivery date, 85% of your deposit will be forfeited.
  • If you cancel your subscription two days prior to the agreed delivery date, 70% of your deposit will be forfeited.
  • If you cancel your subscription three days prior to the agreed delivery date, 60% of your deposit will be forfeited.
  • If you cancel your subscription four days prior to the agreed delivery date, 50% of your deposit will be forfeited.
  • If you cancel your subscription during the period between the date on which your purchase order is accepted and six days prior to the agreed delivery date, 20% of your deposit will be forfeited.

Penalty for early termination of one-year contract:

During the car rental period, a lessee may terminate the contract earlier, but should give advance notice to the lessor. Moreover, the lessee agrees to pay penalty to the lessor.

The compensation standard is as follows:

【(rental fee x 12) – the total rental fee paid by the lessee】is the penalty to be paid.

  • A lessee must be 20 years old and holds a Taiwan national ID card. He/she must also hold a valid Taiwan driver's license.
  • A lessee who is not a Taiwan national must have an alien resident certificate or a work permit. He/she must also hold a valid driver's license issued by his/her country.
  • Documents required for a subscription: The ID card, original driver's license, and credit card of the lessee.
  • If the lessee holding a driver's license is not the same as the credit card holder, he/she can still rent a car.
  • Lessees can jointly subscribe to a car. When picking up the car, joint lessees must bring their ID cards and driver's licenses to the pickup location, where they will sign the rental agreement.

  • Cars available for subscription are 0 to 6 years old.
  • Relevant functions and accessories of the cars vary according to their types. Those provided by car dealers should prevail.

  • Renewal of original car rental agreement: The system will send you an email notification 20 days and six days prior to the expiration of your rental agreement, respectively. Please sign in to Member Center -> My Subscription -> Choose Renewal of Original Car Rental Agreement. Please set up agreement renewal six days prior to the expiration of the original purchase order.
  • Car change: The system will send you an email notification 20 days and six days prior to the expiration of your rental agreement, respectively. Please sign in to Member Center -> My Subscription -> Choose Car Change. Please set up agreement renewal six days prior to the expiration of the original purchase order.
  • Purchasing the car: The system will send you an email notification 20 days and six days prior to the expiration of your rental agreement, respectively. Please sign in to Member Center -> My Subscription -> Choose Purchasing the Car. You can purchase the rental car upon expiration of your subscription. The price will be based on the quotation given by the car dealer.
  • Returning the car: The system will send you an email notification 20 days and six days prior to the expiration of your rental agreement, respectively. Please sign in to Member Center -> My Subscription -> Choose Returning the Car. After you pay relevant fees at the agreed car return location on the expiration date of the agreement, you will be deemed to have returned the car.

* Matters requiring attention when renewing the original car rental agreement: If agreement renewal is not set up six days prior to the expiration of the purchase order, the car will automatically become available for a new user to subscribe. The original user can only choose car change if he/she intends to renew the agreement (the original car rental agreement can only be renewed if no user orders the car prior to the expiration of the agreement).

  • Parking fees, fines for traffic violations, and costs or losses associated with traffic violations during the rental period shall be borne by lessees.
  • Lessees should fulfill their obligations of administrators and properly maintain the rental cars.

  • If your rental car is involved in an accident, stolen, or involved in an offence, please keep the scene intact, so as to protect your own rights and interests. Please call the police department concerned in the first instance, and immediately call our company at +886-2-86654040.

* Please take photos of the “triplicate crime & incident report form” and “damaged areas on the car”, and upload these photos to our company’s LINE account or send them to us by mail.
